asphalt patching: a guide
Asphalt patching is a repair service that we recommend when your asphalt has small damage like potholes or cracks. It's cost effective, but it also protects against future damage to your surfaces.
So, how does asphalt get damaged in the first place? Potholes, for example, happen more frequently in cold weather, when ice can cause expansion that can lead to cracking or holes in the pavement. To repair potholes, we typically use the asphalt cold patch method, where a polymer adhesive can be applied to the pothole under any weather conditions.
What about cracking? As well as cold patching, our employees are skilled at applying asphalt crack filler to any cracks in the surface of your asphalt to make sure that no further damage comes to your property. Cracks increase the rate of deterioration in your asphalt, which is why it's so important to call us so we can fix the problems for you. Water can penetrate deeper into the asphalt through cracks, and if it freezes, the cracks become even larger. Our crack filling services stop this process in its tracks so your pavement can stay intact for a longer period of time.
Hot asphalt patching is another option, and it can only be done by true professionals. we offer hot asphalt patching as well as cold asphalt patching. True to its name, this extremely hot asphalt is injected into the cracks or potholes in your surface, then leveled off so you can barely tell it's been worked on. We promise excellent results with both cold and hot asphalt patching.
There are several different types of repair methods that we offer in our services. Call to find out more about any of these methods:

There are several different types of repair methods that we offer in our services. Call to find out more about any of these methods:
- Throw-and-roll patching: This patching method is considered a temporary fix, in which liquid asphalt is put into the crack or pothole in layers. In between each layer, it is tamped down to make the repair more solid.
- Semi-permanent patching: This method requires more preparation. We use an air compressor or broom to remove debris from our work area, and then we will fill the hole or crack with patching mix and roll over it. Finally, any extra material is cut back with equipment to give you a smooth surface.
- Spray injection: For this approach to asphalt patching, we use equipment attached to one of our trucks to blow water and debris from the damage we're patching. Then, we inject our filling solution into the crack or pothole at a high speed, which eliminates the need for compaction.
- Full-depth patching: This is considered a permanent repair. We dig out the damaged area to about four inches down and widen the area we're patching to provide support to the repair. We apply a tack coat, the asphalt mix, and a backfill so your repair is as durable as possible.
